Watch Out For Quack Watchers

February 19th, 2008

As you look around the Internet for information about health and wellness you will eventually come across a site or two that claim to be watching out for quacks for you. They will tell you who they consider to be quacks and why.

Beware of the Quack Watchers.

As I have researched health and wellness I've read many pages from these types of sites. I am nearly always disappointed in their articles. It turns out that these sites are nearly always written from the point of view of the medical establishment. The purpose being to turn you away from nearly all types of alternative health ideas. Remember that medical doctors, in all their years of schooling, only study human nutrition for a few hours. Most of their time is spent studying disease and drugs.

One of the main things that these Quack alert sites like to say is that alternative health promoters use half truths to promote their programs. I agree with them on that point in most cases. However the "Quack" alert sites are one of the worst offenders of doing that very thing. They are so caught up in trying to make sure that the only source you look to for health is them, that they tell many half truths about many things.

For example, they will tell you that a famous scientist, who taught that you could treat many diseases and enhance health with common supplements, died of cancer. What they didn't tell you is that he had cancer when he died, but he was 93 years old when he died.

Now doesn't that give you a whole different perspective than just that "he died of cancer".

I notice that most of their postings are filled with these types of half truths. Be very careful about things that you read on the Internet. Try to verify the things you read independently of where you read it. Don't just follow links that they may have on their pages to other like minded pages. Use common sense as much as possible. Recognize that scientists can be found on both sides of most any issue. Recognize that many studies that get mentioned on web sites are of very questionable origins. If you look at the actual study, you may come to a very different conclusion than the scientist who was paid by a certain industry to do the study.

Quack watching sites in my opinion are some of the worst sites on the Internet. Yes, they serve a purpose. Yes, there are many quacks out there trying to get your money. Just beware of the agenda behind such sites and do a little more research.

Taking care of your health isn't really all that difficult.

Just eat a high quality natural foods diet, exercise, drink plenty of good clean water, make sure you get fiber (whole raw foods), get plenty of sleep, breathe deeply and have a gratitude attitude.

Your body will take care of you, if you take care of it.
